We are here to help the kids have the best learning experience they can by involving parents and teachers!!
Have you ever wondered what the PTA president does? Have you wanted to help, but you don't know how? Do you want to know who to contact? Below are descriptions of the different positions. Some have a week of work and then less than an hour a week for the rest of the year. There are always positions open that we can fill throughout the year. If you don't feel you have a few hours a week to help, you can also volunteer to be on the nominating committee, or you can volunteer to help with events throughout the year.
President - 1-2 year term. The president is responsible for all the activities of the PTA. For most of the activities the president helps a chairperson who runs the activity. The president is responsible for running the monthly PTA meetings and attending a monthly Council PTA meeting at another school, most weeks the president will have about 2-3 hr/week. On big weeks, like fundraiser, book fair, or events, hours can be 5-25 hours/week depending.
Skills needed - organizing, people skills, leadership, listening
President-Elect - 1-2 year term. The president-elect helps the president with activities. Can be very involved or a little involved. The president-elect attends the monthly PTA board meetings. 1-10 hours a week, depending on the activities that week. Averages about 2 hrs/week over the year. Commits to serving as the next PTA president for 1-2 years.

Treasurer - The treasurer is responsible to track the spending of the PTA. They maintain the books and file quarterly reports to the council PTA. The treasurer works closely with the president. Averages about 3 hr/week during the year. Some weeks during fundraising (late September) and book fair, there will be more like 10 hr/ week when there is more money to count.
Skills needed - basic math, organized, consistency
Secretary - Takes care of the agenda and minutes at the monthly board meetings. The secretary assists with activities as needed. Averages about 1hour/week over the year. A little more time on PTA board meeting weeks, less time on other weeks.
Skills needed - word processing, email skills
Fundraising chair - Takes care of the PTA fundraiser in the spring. Oversees the fundraiser with the help of the president, president-elect and treasurer. Oversees a committee of volunteers. 10-20 hours a week during the fundraising drive, depending on how involved the fundraiser is. Less than an hour a week the rest of the year.
Skills needed - energizing, motivating others, organized
Membership Chair - Runs the PTA Membership drive during registration. Records new members and issues membership cards. 2-3 hr/week during the first few weeks of school at home. 10+ hours at school with registration and collect memberships the first week. Minimal after that (less than an hour a week.)

Public Relations - Let parents know how vital PTA is at their school in giving them a voice and a roll in the education of their child. Create a spirit of Parent Involvement at your school. Showcase your school. Get parents excited and involved in school events. Reach out to the community and better involve the community at your school. Invite the media to promote your school. Use all social media sources to communicate. Be a link with your school as an information highway into the home. Create an atmosphere where every parent feels welcome and a part of the school community.
Reflections Chair- Directs the Reflections program on a local level (school). Attends council and Region training and follows guidelines for the annual theme found in the Reflection chair handbook. May appoint a committee to help with duties such as: introduction to theme and rules for student body, administrative duties (copies of entry forms, rules, entering data for entries onto the state website, flyers,etc), finding artwork entry judges, collecting/returning entries, prizes, advancing artwork, and so forth.
